Yes, you can, but it takes some getting used to. Since FiveFingers do not have built-in support or cushioning, your feet and calves must carry the full load. We recommend starting with shorter day hikes without a heavy pack to build strength in your feet before heading out on longer hikes with a full pack.
Most FiveFingers are designed to be breathable and draining rather than 100% waterproof. However, we do have specific models such as the V-Trek Insulated, which have a water-resistant membrane and insulation for colder weather. For wet terrain, the advantage of the regular models is that they dry very quickly compared to heavy hiking boots.
